Murarai Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Birbhum district in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. CDB Murarai-I, 2. Amdole, Jajigram, Mitrapur, Nandigram, Paikar-I and Paikar-II GPs of CDB Murarai-II

This constituency covers an approximate area of 287 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Murarai is: 24°28'03.7"N 87°52'39.7"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 82.27%, while it was 85.14% in 2016, and 86.07% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Dr Mosarraf Hossain of TMC won in this constituency beating Debasish Roy of BJP by a margin of 98246 votes which was 45.4% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Abdur Rahaman (Liton) of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Ali Mortuza Khan of INC by a margin of 280 votes which was 0.14% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Nure Alam Chowdhury of TMC won this seat defeating Elahi Kamre Dr of CPIM by a margin of 4403 votes which was 2.7% of the total votes polled for the seat.
