Pursurah Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Hooghly district in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. CDB Pursurah, 2. Arunda, Balipur, Rammohan-I, Rammohan-II and Tantisal GPs of CDB Khanakul-I, 3. Harinkhola-I and Harinkhola-II GPs of CDB Arambag

This constituency covers an approximate area of 225 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Pursurah is: 22°49'13.4"N 87°54'35.6"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 85.32%, while it was 86.35% in 2016, and 89.54% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Biman Ghosh of BJP won in this constituency beating Dilip Yadav of TMC by a margin of 28178 votes which was 12.79% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Dr. M. Nuruzzaman of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Pratim Singha Roy of INC by a margin of 29127 votes which was 14.14% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Parvez Rahman of TMC won this seat defeating Saumendranath Bera of CPIM by a margin of 31690 votes which was 16.54% of the total votes polled for the seat.
