This constituency covers an approximate area of 546 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Raghunathpur is: 23°35'05.6"N 86°45'31.0"E.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Vivekananda Bauri of BJP won in this constituency beating Bouri Hazari of TMC by a margin of 5438 votes which was 2.58% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Purna Chandra Bauri of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Satyanarayan Bauri of CPIM by a margin of 16142 votes which was 8.37% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Purna Chandra Bauri of TMC won this seat defeating Dipali Bauri of CPIM by a margin of 12743 votes which was 7.89% of the total votes polled for the seat.
