Tarakeswar Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Hooghly district in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal: 1. CDB Tarakeswar, 2. Tarakeswar (M), 3. Bhanderhati-I, Bhanderhati-II, Gopinathpur-I, Gopinathpur-II and Perambua Sahabazar GPs of CDB Dhanekhali

This constituency covers an approximate area of 168 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Tarakeswar is: 22°53'01.3"N 88°01'07.7"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 85.27%, while it was 86.66% in 2016, and 89.24% in 2011.

In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Ramendu Sinharay of TMC won in this constituency beating Swapan Dasgupta of BJP by a margin of 7484 votes which was 3.68% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Rachhpal Singh E of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Surajit Ghosh of NCP by a margin of 27690 votes which was 14.4% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Rachhpal Singh of TMC won this seat defeating Pratim Chatterjee of CPIM by a margin of 25472 votes which was 14.47% of the total votes polled for the seat.
