In 2015, Avidur Rahman of INC was the winner in this seat beating Ajay Kumar Jha of LJP by a margin of 40044 votes which was 22.8% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Zakir Hussain Khan of LJP won this seat defeating Narayan Kumar Jha of BJP by a margin of 18061 votes which was 14.05% of the total votes polled for the seat.
