Assembly constituency no.55. Kochadhaman comprises of the following areas of Kishanganj district in the Koshi region of Bihar: CD Block Kochadhamin; Gram Panchayats Belwa, Gachhpara, Chakla, Mehangaon, Daula & Pichhla of Kishanganj CD Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 422.74 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kochadhaman is: 26°08'21.5"N 87°50'35.5"E.

A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Bihar share borders with Kochadhaman constituency, which are: Bahadurganj, Kishanganj, Jokihat, Amour. This constituency shares an inter-state border with West Bengal.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Muhammed Izhar Asfi of AIMIM won in this constituency beating Mujahid Alam of JDU by a margin of 36143 votes which was 22.37% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Mujahid Alam of JDU was the winner in this seat beating Akhtarul Iman of AIMIM by a margin of 18843 votes which was 13.28% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Akhatarul Iman of RJD won this seat defeating of JDU by a margin of 9025 votes which was 8.76% of the total votes polled for the seat.
