Parihar comprises of the following areas of Sitamarhi district in the Tirhut region of Bihar: CD Block Parihar; Gram Panchayats Sonbarsa, Purandaha Rajwara Paschimi, Purandaha Rajwara Purvi, Indarwa, Pipra Parsain, Jainagar, Madhiya, Singhwahini, Bhaluaha, Bishunpur Aadhar & Dostia of Sonbarsha CD Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 299.14 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Parihar is: 26°45'52.9"N 85°38'56.4"E.

A total of two Assembly constituencies in the state of Bihar share borders with Parihar constituency, which are: Bathnaha, Sursand. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Nepal.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Gaytri Devi of BJP won in this constituency beating Ritu Kumar of RJD by a margin of 1569 votes which was 0.91% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Gaytri Devi of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Ram Chandra Purve of RJD by a margin of 4017 votes which was 2.46% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Ram Naresh Pr Yadav of BJP won this seat defeating Dr. Ramchandra Purve of RJD by a margin of 4218 votes which was 3.65% of the total votes polled for the seat.
