In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Niral Purty of JMM won in this constituency beating Bhupendra Pingua of BJP by a margin of 47,192 votes which was 35.93% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Niral Purty of JMM was the winner in this seat beating Madhu Kora of JBSP by a margin of 11,182 votes which was 8.71% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Barkuwar Gagrai of BJP won this seat defeating Niral Purty of JMM by a margin of 9,890 votes which was 10.19% of the total votes polled for the seat.
