In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Kushwaha Shashi Bhushan Mehta of BJP won in this constituency beating Devendra Kumar Singh of INC by a margin of 37,190 votes which was 20.90% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Bidesh Singh of INC was the winner in this seat beating Kushwaha Shashi Bhushan Mehta of IND by a margin of 1,995 votes which was 1.27% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Bidesh Singh of IND won this seat defeating Madhu Singh of JDU by a margin of 20,218 votes which was 18.19% of the total votes polled for the seat.
