Azhikode Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Kannur district in the Malabar region of Kerala: Azhikode, Chirakkal, Narath, Pallikkunnu, Pappinisseri, Puzhathi and Valapattanam Panchayats in Kannur Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 80 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Azhikode is: 11°55'22.8"N 75°21'30.6"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 77.89%, while it was 81.93% in 2016, and 82.45% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, K V Sumesh of CPIM won in this constituency beating K M Shaji of IUML by a margin of 6141 votes which was 4.25% of the total votes cast. In 2016, K M Shaji of IUML was the winner in this seat beating M V Nikesh Kumar of CPIM by a margin of 2287 votes which was 1.62% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, K.M.Shaji of MUL won this seat defeating M.Prakashan Master of CPIM by a margin of 493 votes which was 0.4% of the total votes polled for the seat.
