Kongad Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Palakkad district in the Cochin region of Kerala: Kanhirapuzha, Karakurissi, Thachampara and Karimba Panchayats in Mannarkkad Taluk; Keralassery, Kongad, Mankara, Mannur and Parali Panchayats in Palakkad Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 225 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kongad is: 10°50'10.3"N 76°31'05.2"E.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Santhakumari K of CPIM won in this constituency beating U C Raman of IUML by a margin of 27219 votes which was 19.79% of the total votes cast. In 2016, K.V.Vijayadas of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Pandalam Sudhakaran of INC by a margin of 13271 votes which was 9.9% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, K.V.Vijayadas of CPIM won this seat defeating P.Swaminathan of INC by a margin of 3565 votes which was 3.14% of the total votes polled for the seat.
