Puthukkad Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Thrissur district in the Cochin region of Kerala: Alagappanagar, Mattathur, Nenmanikkara, Parappukkara, Pudukkad, Varandarappilly and Trikkur Panchayats in Mukundapuram Taluk and Vallachira Panchayat in Thrissur Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 368 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Puthukkad is: 10°25'20.3"N 76°24'36.0"E.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, K K Ramachandran of CPIM won in this constituency beating Sunil Anthikkad (Sunilkumar P V) of INC by a margin of 27353 votes which was 17.62% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Prof.C.Raveendranath of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Sundaran Kunnathully of INC by a margin of 38478 votes which was 24.24% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Prof: C. Raveendranath of CPIM won this seat defeating Adv. K. P. Viswanathan, of INC by a margin of 26482 votes which was 19.16% of the total votes polled for the seat.
