Other Lok Sabha constituencies adjacent to Guwahati are: Dhubri, Barpeta, Mangaldoi, Nowgong, Meghalaya: Shillong, Tura. This constituency shares an inter-state border with: Meghalaya.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Queen Oja of BJP won in this seat defeating Bobbeeta Sharma of INC by a margin of 3,45,606 votes which was 19.59% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 57.2% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Bijoya Chakravarty of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Manash Borah of INC by a margin of 3,15,784 votes which was 20.89% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP secured a vote share of 50.6% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Bijoya Chakravarty of BJP won this seat beating Capt Robin Bordoloi of INC by a margin of 11,855 votes which was 1.07% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 44.64% in the seat.
