In 2013, Kamal Marskole of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Arjun Singh (Arjun Bhaiyya) of INC by a margin of 269 votes which was 0.16% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 46.05% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Kamal Marskole of BJP won this seat beating Tirath Singh Batti of INC by a margin of 15,810 votes which was 11.64% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 45.47% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.114. Barghat comprises of the following areas of Seoni district in the Mahakoshal region of Madhya Pradesh: Barghat Tehsil and Kurai Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 2,162 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Barghat is: 21°53'30.1"N 79°35'40.6"E.
