The geographic coordinates of Ghatiya is: 23°16'28.9"N 75°44'44.2"E. Ghatiya shares its borders with nine other Assembly constituencies in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The other Madhya Pradesh Assembly constituencies adjacent to Ghatiya are: Dewas, Hatpipliya, Sanwer, Nagada-Khachrod, Mahidpur, Tarana, Ujjain Uttar, Ujjain Dakshin, Badnagar . This constituency shares an inter-state border with: no other state.

Election results

In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Ramlal Malviya of INC won in this seat defeating Ajit Premchand Guddu of BJP by a margin of 4,628 which was 2.82% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 48.47% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Satish Malviya of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Ramlal Malviya of INC by a margin of 17,369 votes which was 12.39% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 52.83% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Ramlal Malviya of INC won this seat beating Dr Prabhulal Jatwa of BJP by a margin of 2,111 votes which was 1.93% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 41.43% in the seat.
