In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Munnalal Goyal (Munna Bhaiya) of INC won in this seat defeating Satish Singh Sikarwar of BJP by a margin of 17,819 which was 10.26% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 51.92% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Maya Singh (Mami) of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Munnalal Goyal (Munna Bhaiya) of INC by a margin of 1,147 votes which was 0.8% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 41.81% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Anup Mishra of BJP won this seat beating Munnalal Goyal (Munna Bhaiya) of INC by a margin of 1,538 votes which was 1.67% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 40.38% in the seat.

In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Monday, November 25, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, Gwalior East voted in Phase 1 on Thursday, November 27, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

Assembly constituency no.16. Gwalior East comprises of the following areas of Gwalior district in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh: Ward Nos 19 to 29 and 37 to 41 of Gwalior (Municipal Corporation) of Gwalior Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 31 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Gwalior East is: 26°12'47.5"N 78°11'39.8"E.
