In 2013, Pramila Singh of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Dhyan Singh of INC by a margin of 13,963 votes which was 8.45% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 44.87% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Sundar Singh of BJP won this seat beating Kamla Prasad Singh of INC by a margin of 12,284 votes which was 10.14% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 40.01% in the seat.

Jaisinghnagar comprises of the following areas of Shahdol district in the Vindhya Pradesh region of Madhya Pradesh: Sohagpur No 1, Sohagpur No 2 and Gohparu RI Circles of Sohagpur Tehsil, Shahdol (M) Municipality, 11 Dewara-II, 12 Jaisinghnagar, 15 Chandela, 16 Kubra, 17 Darodi and 18 Chitraw Patwari Circles of Jaisinghnagar RI Circle of Jaisinghnagar Tehsil and Jaisinghnagar (Nagar Panchayat) NPT.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1,412 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Jaisinghnagar is: 23°28'21.0"N 81°24'53.3"E.
