In 2013, Chanda - Surendra Singh Gaur of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Rahul Singh Lodhi of BJP by a margin of 5,677 votes which was 4.02% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 42.32% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Ajay Yadav of BJSH won this seat beating Surendra Singh Gour ( Dadda) of BSP by a margin of 1,006 votes which was 0.94% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BSP had a vote share of 22.33% in the seat.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1,229 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Khargapur is: 24°50'45.2"N 79°10'49.8"E.
