In 2013, Veersingh Panwar of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Pan Bai Panthi of INC by a margin of 4,081 votes which was 2.91% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 46.37% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Hari Singh Sapre of BJP won this seat beating Maya Devi Pancham Lal Sapre of INC by a margin of 11,189 votes which was 11.6% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 43.72% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.146. Kurwai comprises of the following areas of Vidisha district in the Malwa North region of Madhya Pradesh: Kurwai Tehsil, Deepnakheda and Siyalpur RI Circles of Sironj Tehsil and Ambanagar RI Circle of Basoda Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1,739 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kurwai is: 24°03'46.8"N 77°58'40.8"E.
