In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Premshanker Kunjilal Verma (Baghwada) of BJP won in this seat defeating Omprakash Hazarilal Raghuwanshi of INC by a margin of 11,604 which was 6.14% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 46.58% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Sartaj Singh of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Dada Hajari Lal Raghuwanshi of INC by a margin of 12,547 votes which was 7.61% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 47.54% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Sartaj Singh of BJP won this seat beating Dada Hajarilal Raghuwanshi S/O Nanhu Singh Banapura of INC by a margin of 7,845 votes which was 6.48% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 44.7% in the seat.

Seoni Malwa comprises of the following areas of Narmadapuram district in the Mahakoshal region of Madhya Pradesh: Seoni-Malwa Tehsil, Dolariya RI Circle of Hoshangabad Tehsil, Keshla and 0-RI Circles of Itarsi Tehsil, 1 Dhaba Kala, 2 Malothar, 3 Jamani, 4 Semari Kurdh, 5 Nayagaon, 6 Bhatti, 7 Bhilakhedi and 8 Bor Tali Patwari Circles of Itarsi – RI Circle of Itarsi Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 2,186 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Seoni Malwa is: 22°26'56.4"N 77°26'52.8"E.
