In 2013, Arun Bhimawad of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Karada Hukum Singh of INC by a margin of 1,938 votes which was 1.18% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 46.74% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Karada Hukumsingh of INC won this seat beating J P Mandloi of BJP by a margin of 9,662 votes which was 7.02% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 49.81% in the seat.

Shajapur comprises of the following areas of Shajapur district in the Malwa North region of Madhya Pradesh: Shajapur Tehsil and 12 Mandoda, 13 Jaswada, 14 Moman Barodia 15 Sarsi, 16 Dhandeda, 17 Dongargaon, 18 Dupada, 19 Pachore, 20 Bijana, 21 Khoriya Ema, 22 Kumariya Khash, 23 Dudhana, 24 Rijawta, 25 Jaloda (Shajapur) and 26 Rasulpur (Shajapur) Patwari Circles of M Barodia-1 – RI Circle of Moman Badodiya Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 976 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Shajapur is: 23°25'02.3"N 76°18'52.9"E.
