In 2013, Parul Sahu Kesari of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Govind Singh Rajpoot of INC by a margin of 141 votes which was 0.1% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 43.62% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Govindsingh Rajput of INC won this seat beating Rajendrasingh Mokalpur of BJP by a margin of 12,438 votes which was 11.38% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 50.29% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.37. Surkhi comprises of the following areas of Sagar district in the Vindhya Pradesh region of Madhya Pradesh: Rahatgarh Tehsil and Surkhi and Jaisinagar RI Circles of Sagar Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1,537 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Surkhi is: 23°43'30.0"N 78°34'16.0"E.
