The geographic coordinates of Tarana is: 23°23'35.2"N 76°03'52.2"E. Tarana shares its borders with seven other Assembly constituencies in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The other Madhya Pradesh Assembly constituencies adjacent to Tarana are: Agar, Shajapur, Sonkatch, Dewas, Hatpipliya, Mahidpur, Ghatiya. This constituency shares an inter-state border with: no other state.

Election results

In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Mahesh Parmar of INC won in this seat defeating Anil Firojiya of BJP by a margin of 2,209 which was 1.58% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 48.38% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Anil Firojiya of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Rajendra Radhakishan Malviya of INC by a margin of 16,135 votes which was 13.43% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 53.94% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Rodmal Rathore of BJP won this seat beating Babulal Malviya of INC by a margin of 12,061 votes which was 11.88% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 48.49% in the seat.
