In the 2008 elections, Pradeep Amritlal Jaiswal (Gudda) of INC won this seat beating Bodh Singh Bhagat of BJP by a margin of 14,990 votes which was 12.28% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 41.77% in the seat.

Waraseoni comprises of the following areas of Balaghat district in the Mahakoshal region of Madhya Pradesh: Waraseoni Tehsil, Arambha RI Circle of Khairlanji Tehsil, 10 Khairlanji, 11 Khari, 12 Khursipar and 13 Kharkhari Patwari Circles of Khairlanji RI Circle of Khairlanji Tehsil.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 543 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Waraseoni is: 21°40'53.4"N 80°02'27.6"E.

A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Madhya Pradesh share borders with Waraseoni constituency, which are: Paraswada, Balaghat, Katangi. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Gondiya district of Maharashtra.
