In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, V L Zaithanzama of IND won in this seat defeating Vanlalzawma of MNF by a margin of 1,026 which was 6.1% of the total votes cast for the seat. IND had a vote share of 41.22% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Vanlalzawma of MNF emerged victorious in this seat beating R Selthuama of INC by a margin of 978 votes which was 6.44% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 37.99% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, R Selthuama of INC won this seat beating Col Lalchungnunga Sailo of MPC by a margin of 1,113 votes which was 8.68% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MPC had a vote share of 40.82% in the seat.

Aizawl West - III comprises of the following areas of Aizawl district in the Aizwal region of Mizoram: Aizawl (Notified Town) - Wd No 47 - mission Vengthlang Wd No 48 - Khatla S, Wd No 49 – Khatla, Wd No 50 - Bungkawn Nursery, Wd No 51 – Bungkawn, Wd No 52 – maubawk and Wd No 53 – lawipu in Tlangnuam R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 9 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Aizawl West - III is: 23°40'57.0"N 92°41'30.8"E.
