The other Mizoram Assembly constituencies adjacent to Chalfilh are: Tuivawl, Aizawl East-I, Tawi, Lengteng. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with: Pherzawl districts of Manipur.

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Lalrinliana Sailo of MNF won in this seat defeating F Rualhleia of IND by a margin of 1,007 which was 6.72% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 36.99% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Dr Ngurdingliana of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating L T Kima Fanai of MPC by a margin of 3,728 votes which was 26.42% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 50.84% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Chawngtinthanga of INC won this seat beating Lalvenhima Hmar of MPC by a margin of 543 votes which was 4.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MPC had a vote share of 37.31% in the seat.

Chalfilh comprises of the following areas of Saitual district in the Aizwal region of Mizoram: Villages Khawruhlian, Tuirinikai, Hmunnghak, Khanpui and lailak in Darlawn R D Block; and Villages N Khawlek, Vanbawng, lamherh, Suangpuilawn, Zawngin, Phullen, Thanglailung, luangpawn, Phuaibuang, Khawlian, N e Tlangnuam and Daido in Phullen R D Block; and Villages Buhban, N lungpher, mualmam, Sesawng, Dilkhan, Tualbung and Sihfa in Thingsulthliah R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 940 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Chalfilh is: 23°52'18.1"N 93°01'13.4"E.
