In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, C Lalrinsanga of MNF won in this seat defeating Chalrosanga Ralte of INC by a margin of 77 which was 0.65% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 34.44% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Chalrosanga Ralte of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Dr R Lalthangliana of MNF by a margin of 94 votes which was 0.84% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 46.27% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Dr R Lalthangliana of MNF won this seat beating J Lawmzuala of INC by a margin of 723 votes which was 7.1% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 40.84% in the seat.

Assembly constituency no.32. Lunglei West comprises of the following areas of Lunglei district in the South region of Mizoram: Wd No 1 Hauruang, Wd No 2 Rahsi Veng, Wd No 3 Venghlun, Wd No 4 Venglai, Wd No 6 Bazar, Wd No 7 College Veng in lunglei (Notified Town) and Villages Vanhne, Thuampui and Pachang in lunglei R D Block Villages W Bungtlang, S lungdai, Serte, Sertlangpui, Kawlhawk and Buarpui in W Bunghmun R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 326 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Lunglei West is: 23°04'15.6"N 92°41'29.4"E.

A total of five Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with Lunglei West constituency, which are: Lunglei South, Lunglei East, Lunglei North, Serchhip, Thorang. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with no other state.
