In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, R Lalzirliana of MNF won in this seat defeating R Lalthatluanga of IND by a margin of 184 which was 1.39% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 37.35% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, R Lalzirliana of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Lalmalsawmi of MNF by a margin of 947 votes which was 7.47% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 45.42% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, R Lalzirliana of INC won this seat beating Lalchhandama Ralte of MNF by a margin of 1,211 votes which was 10.62% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 41.29% in the seat.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 476 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Tawi is: 23°35'24.0"N 92°56'20.4"E.
