In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Andrew H Thangliana of IND won in this seat defeating Sailothanga Sailo of MNF by a margin of 204 which was 1.43% of the total votes cast for the seat. IND had a vote share of 30.8% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Hmingdailova Khiangte of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Joseph L Ralte of ZNP by a margin of 239 votes which was 1.83% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 39.12% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Hmingdailova Khiangte of INC won this seat beating Sailothanga Sailo of MPC by a margin of 1,022 votes which was 8.58% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MPC had a vote share of 39.58% in the seat.

Tuirial comprises of the following areas of Kolasib district in the North region of Mizoram: North Thingdawl, Rajtali, Dilzau H, Hortoki, Sethawn, Bukpui, N Chaltlang, N mualvum, Zanlawn and Wd No 1 Kawnpui and Wd No 2 Bualpui in N Kawnpui (Notified Town) of North Thingdawl R D Block; and Villages Khamrang, lungmuat, Nisapui, Serkhan, mualkhang, lungdai and Sentlang in Tlangnuam R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 788 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Tuirial is: 24°02'54.6"N 92°43'09.1"E.
