In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Bikram Kumar Panda of BJD won in this constituency beating Kanhu Charan Pati of BJP by a margin of 35,484 votes which was 29.84% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Bikram Kumar Panda of INC by a margin of 1,039 votes which was 0.91% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Dr Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik of BJD won this seat defeating Bikram Kumar Panda of INC by a margin of 3,844 votes which was 4.67% of the total votes polled for the seat.
