In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Sudhir Kumar Samal of BJD won in this constituency beating Krushna Chandra Patra of BJP by a margin of 20,640 votes which was 10.82% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Saroj Kumar Samal of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Krushna Chandra Patra of BJP by a margin of 3,294 votes which was 1.88% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Nabin Nanda of NCP won this seat defeating Sudhir Kumar Samal of INC by a margin of 6,933 votes which was 4.79% of the total votes polled for the seat.
