Other Odisha Assembly constituencies adjacent to Khariar are: Kantabanji, Nuapada, Junagarh. This constituency shares an inter-state border with: Chhattisgarh.

Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,51,053 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Khadial, Rajkhariar, Rajakhariar Assembly election, of which 1,26,035 were male, 1,25,001 female and 17 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,38,514 registered voters, of which 1,26,035 were male, 1,17,284 female and 19 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,19,256 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,11,922 were male, 1,07,329 female and 5 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 2,13,510 which included 1,07,512 male, and 1,05,998 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Adhiraj Mohan Panigrahi of INC won in this constituency beating Lambodar Nial of BJD by a margin of 2,857 votes which was 1.61% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Duryodhan Majhi of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Adhiraj Mohan Panigrahi of INC by a margin of 7,126 votes which was 4.26% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Hitesh Kumar Bagartti of BJP won this seat defeating Duryodhan Majhi of BJD by a margin of 11,366 votes which was 7.91% of the total votes polled for the seat.
