In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Ashok Kumar Bal of BJD won in this constituency beating Biswajeet Nayak of BJP by a margin of 30,724 votes which was 20.76% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Akash Das Nayak of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Biswajeet Nayak of INC by a margin of 42,867 votes which was 32.31% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Pritiranjan Gharai of BJD won this seat defeating Hemalata Khuntia of INC by a margin of 25,112 votes which was 23.28% of the total votes polled for the seat.
