In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Dr Pramod Kumar Mallick of BJD won in this constituency beating Chhabi Malik of BJP by a margin of 27,703 votes which was 15.81% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Pramod Kumar Mallick of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Chhabi Malik of INC by a margin of 25,809 votes which was 15.6% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Pramod Kumar Mallick of BJD won this seat defeating Artatrana Malik of INC by a margin of 50,653 votes which was 36.57% of the total votes polled for the seat.
