In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Sambit Routray of BJD won in this constituency beating Arindam Sarkhel of INC by a margin of 20,992 votes which was 13.44% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Damodar Rout of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Arindam Sarkhel of INC by a margin of 38,600 votes which was 26.8% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Damodara Rout of BJD won this seat defeating Ramesh Samantaray of IND by a margin of 30,351 votes which was 24.15% of the total votes polled for the seat.
