In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, K Narayana Rao of BJP won in this constituency beating Tirupati Panigrahi of IND by a margin of 15,335 votes which was 10.51% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Kengam Surya Rao of INC was the winner in this seat beating Koduru Narayana Rao of BJD by a margin of 1,419 votes which was 1.05% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, K Narayana Rao of BJD won this seat defeating Trinath Sahu of INC by a margin of 14,941 votes which was 13.05% of the total votes polled for the seat.
