In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Angada Kanhar of BJD won in this constituency beating Debanarayan Pradhan of BJP by a margin of 24,416 votes which was 17.89% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Duguni Kanhar of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Debanarayan Pradhan of BJP by a margin of 25,795 votes which was 20.65% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Debendra Kanhar of BJD won this seat defeating Debanarayan Pradhan of BJP by a margin of 8,729 votes which was 8.39% of the total votes polled for the seat.
