In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Pritiranjan Gharai of BJD won in this constituency beating Pradeep Bal Samanta of BJP by a margin of 16,730 votes which was 10.4% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Pritiranjan Gharai of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Sarat Raut of INC by a margin of 4,704 votes which was 3.22% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Prafulla Chandra Ghadai of BJD won this seat defeating Sarat Raut of INC by a margin of 2,403 votes which was 1.95% of the total votes polled for the seat.
