This constituency covers an approximate area of 10 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Ariankuppam is: 11°54'17.3"N 79°48'42.8"E.

In the 2021 Puducherry Assembly elections, R Baskar alias Datchanamourtty of AINRC won in this constituency beating T Djeamourthy of INC by a margin of 6418 votes which was 19.75% of the total votes cast. In 2016, T. Djeamourthy of INC was the winner in this seat beating Dr. M.A.S.Subramanian of AIADMK by a margin of 6571 votes which was 21.21% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, V.Sabapathy @ Kothandaraman of AINRC won this seat defeating T.Djeamourthy of INC by a margin of 2631 votes which was 9.66% of the total votes polled for the seat.
