In the 2021 Puducherry Assembly elections, M Vaithianathan of INC won in this constituency beating V Saminathan of BJP by a margin of 5701 votes which was 22.08% of the total votes cast. In 2016, V.P. Sivakolundhu of INC was the winner in this seat beating M. Vaithianathan of IND by a margin of 6449 votes which was 24.92% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, M. Vaithianathan of AINRC won this seat defeating V.P. Sivakolunthu of INC by a margin of 5432 votes which was 27.61% of the total votes polled for the seat.
