In the 2021 Puducherry Assembly elections, Embalam Selvam alias R Selvam of BJP won in this constituency beating R K R Anantharaman of INC by a margin of 8132 votes which was 27.54% of the total votes cast. In 2016, R.K.R. Anantharaman of INC was the winner in this seat beating G. Suresh of AINRC by a margin of 2715 votes which was 9.91% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, P.Purushothaman of AIADMK won this seat defeating R.K.R. Anantharaman of PMK by a margin of 4333 votes which was 17.97% of the total votes polled for the seat.
