In the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections, Shobharani Kushwah of BJP won in this seat defeating Dr Shiv Charan Singh Kushawah of INC by a margin of 19,360 which was 13.16% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 45.79% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, B L Kushwah of BSP emerged victorious in this seat beating Banwari Lal Sharma of INC by a margin of 9,209 votes which was 6.99% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BSP had a vote share of 37.86% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Abdul Sageer Khan of BJP won this seat beating Ashok Sharma of INC by a margin of 1,554 votes which was 1.6% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 28.91% in the seat.

Dholpur comprises of the following areas of Dholpur district in the Matsya region of Rajasthan: Tehsil Dholpur (Partly) – (I) IlRC Dholpur including Municipal Board Dholpur (II) IlRC Jatoli (III) IlRC Pachgaon, Tehsil Saipau (Partly) – (I) IlRC Kareempur (II) IlRC Kolari.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 425 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Dholpur is: 26°43'24.6"N 77°51'39.6"E.

A total of two Assembly constituencies in the state of Rajasthan share borders with Dholpur constituency, which are: Bari, Rajakhera. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with Agra and Morena districts of Madhya Pradesh.
