In the 2008 elections, Nandlal of BJP won this seat beating Bhadurlal of INC by a margin of 13,819 votes which was 10.82% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 50.97% in the seat.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1,468 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Pratapgarh is: 23°52'59.9"N 74°47'59.3"E.
