Ariyalur Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Ariyalur district in the Kaveri Delta region of Tamil Nadu: Ariyalur Taluk Udayarpalayam Taluk (Part) T.Sholankurichi (North), Thathanur (East), Thathanur (West), Managethi, Venmankondan (West), Venmankondan (East), Parukkal (West), Parukkal (East), Naduvalur (East), Naduvalur (West), Suthamalli, Uliyakudi, Ambapur, Udayavarthiyanur, Keelanatham, Kadambur, Sathambadi, Govindaputhur, Sripurandan (North) and Sripurandan (South) villages.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 909 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Ariyalur is: 11°03'27.7"N 79°08'55.0"E.

In 2016, Rajendran. S of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Sivasankar. S.S of DMK by a margin of 2043 votes which was 0.97% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Manivel, Durai. of AIADMK won this seat defeating Amaramoorthy D of INC by a margin of 17820 votes which was 9.59% of the total votes polled for the seat.
