In 2016, Ramachandran.K.K.S.S.R of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Vaigaichelvan.Dr of AIADMK by a margin of 18054 votes which was 10.95% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Vaigaichelvan of AIADMK won this seat defeating Ramachandran. K.K.S.S.R of DMK by a margin of 10638 votes which was 7.11% of the total votes polled for the seat.
