In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Udhayanidhi Stalin of DMK won in this constituency beating Kassali A V A of PMK by a margin of 69355 votes which was 51.24% of the total votes cast. In 2016, J.Anbazhagan of DMK was the winner in this seat beating A.Noorjahan of AIADMK by a margin of 14164 votes which was 9.86% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Anbazhagan. J of DMK won this seat defeating Thameemun Ansari. M of MAMAK by a margin of 9203 votes which was 7.09% of the total votes polled for the seat.
