In 2016, Arasu R T of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Munusamy A of AIADMK by a margin of 304 votes which was 0.18% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, V. S . Raji of AIADMK won this seat defeating D. Parventhan of VCK by a margin of 26584 votes which was 18.87% of the total votes polled for the seat.
