This constituency covers an approximate area of 33 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Erode (East) is: 11°21'27.0"N 77°43'04.4"E.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Thirumahan Everaa E of INC won in this constituency beating Yuvaraja M of AIADMK by a margin of 8904 votes which was 5.92% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Thennarasu K S of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating Chandhirakumar V C of DMK by a margin of 7794 votes which was 5.27% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Chandhirakumar V.C of DMDK won this seat defeating Muthusamy S of DMK by a margin of 10644 votes which was 7.82% of the total votes polled for the seat.
