Harur Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Dharmapuri district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Harur Taluk Pappireddippatti Taluk (Part) Andipatty, Mangade, Kolagampatty, Nambippatti, Pethathampatti, Chinnankuppam, Annamalaihalli, Jammanahalli, Parayapatti, Devarajapalayam, Puludiyur, Kokkarapatty, Malagapadi, Sitteri, Vachathi, Erumiyampatty, Kombur, Chinnamanjavadi, Manjavadi, Kallattupatti, Nadupatti, Nonanganur, Elandaikuttapatty, Pattukonampatty, Nachikutti R.F., Ammapalayam and Kullampatty villages.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 1348 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Harur is: 12°01'40.8"N 78°31'01.9"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 78.46%, while it was 84.36% in 2016, and 79.64% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Sampathkumar V of AIADMK won in this constituency beating Kumar A of CPIM by a margin of 30362 votes which was 15.47% of the total votes cast. In 2016, R.Murugan of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating S.Rajendran of DMK by a margin of 11421 votes which was 6.01% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Dillibabu P of CPIM won this seat defeating Nandhan B M of VCK by a margin of 26503 votes which was 17.64% of the total votes polled for the seat.
