In 2016, Panneerselvam Mrk of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Rajendran R of AIADMK by a margin of 28108 votes which was 14.93% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, R.Rajendran of AIADMK won this seat defeating M.R.K.Panneerselvam of DMK by a margin of 23848 votes which was 15.22% of the total votes polled for the seat.
